Once Upon a Time - 1x02
8 October 2012 09:24 pmOh yes!! After getting my grubby little paws on it, I'm ready to watch.
Some thoughts...
Ruby/Red is absolutely awesome and I still want more of her!!
Regina is still such a brilliant bloody character. That desire to essentially destroy the town to get Henry back is a fascinating thing. Also, her past makes her so much more interesting, knowing she never wanted the power originally. It's a clever way of making the 'evil' character much more sympathic and believable.
Though, for a smart woman, she's a little clueless about somethings. Like Henry. For someone who was controlled by a parent for a long time and hated it, you'd think she'd know Henry wouldn't respond well. But I do like the way she lets him go back with Charming. And the fact she apparently wants redemption. Not sure if I believe her though. But damnit, it makes her character bloody fascinating!
I really like the way that the characters are both the same and different now they're their 'real' selves again. All these similarities, but there's some definite changes, like some traits are emphasised. Like Charming is much more loyal then David, but he's also more headstrong.
Damn Rumple, he was trying to leave. But why?? Also, when he was talking to the younger Regina, why was he talking about their history in the past and future?
And then in the Enchanted Forest... How is Cora still alive?? And sheesh, I kind of adore Mulan, but she's not the friendliest sort. But I hope we get more of Snow and Emma. I want to know more!

I'm suspicious of Regina too. I was all, "Really Regina, really??" *looked at screen suspiciously* Lol, no joke.
I PREFER CHARMING OVER DAVID, NGL. (I'm wondering if David is his real name? 'Cause we only get James, which was his brother's name, and Charming. Plus Snow called him David like twice in the first episode, but he keeps calling her Snow, so hmmm.)
I'm quite certain Rumpel was trying to find his son and, now knowing he can't, becomes enraged. *needs to honestly rewatch in order to pay more attention to conversation with younger Regina*
*URG* I do not want Cora still alive! Maybe Rumpel made sure the mirror sent her elsewhere so he could use her against Regina somehow later on?
*Hopes to see Mulan develop more and is pretty hopeful she won't be disappointed*
I knew they'd give us some Snow and Emma at the very end just to taunt us. EVIL I say, EVIL.

Date: 8 October 2012 11:07 am (UTC)Reasons I love Regina. Never quite sure if she means what she says or not. But thank you writers for giving her a really fascinating backstory. Can't wait til we get more of it...
Well, that's cause Charming is still got some of his fairy tale qualities where David is a bit more flawed. Didn't we hear his real name once in the previous season? *Can't remember*
Now that you've mentioned the son thing, it would make sense. But still it's a good question. I love ambiguous Rumple!

Date: 8 October 2012 11:02 pm (UTC)I want a redemption arc for her SO BAD! In a way, I like that she didn't throw away the book. A person can't change overnight after all. Perhaps it will serve as a delicious and interesting moral dillema later on in the season, with possibly lots of angst.
I was honestly surprised when Rumple told young Regina he knows her from before and then my sister reminded me that Rumpelstilskin original fairytale involves stealing little children/babies so.... i'm guessing there's more to that particular story.
Cora in that dungeon came out of nowhere. I really thought she was the Queen of Hearts - I mean, Regina pushed her through the Looking Glass. XD Maybe she is but got out of there somehow?? IDK but this show keeps adding layers and storylines and more background stuff and I'm loving it. :D

Date: 9 October 2012 04:13 am (UTC)Hope we get some more of Rumples story, and how it ties in with Regina and everyone else for that matter. I'm not greedy I just want to know!
YES, where did Cora come from? I did have that brief though about the looking glass and then just didn't think about it. Damn they're sneaky. But interesting now that Snow and Emma are stuck with Cora. And on that note, won't Snow and Cora have some idea who each is?

Cora might not recognize Snow (last time they saw each other - that we know of - Sanow was a little girl) especially if Emma keeps calling her Mary Margaret. But Snow should recognize Cora though, yeah. Though, now I think about it, Cora might still have some magic so that could factor in as well.

Date: 9 October 2012 03:03 pm (UTC)You're right, Cora might not recognise Snow. Actually given when she was pushed through the mirror, Snow might not remember Cora much either. And now I'm curious about the magic factor...
