I finished watching Game of Thrones. 5 episodes a day, only takes 2 days. Well, nights if you want to be technical. Not really the point.
Would love to be eloquent and meaningful about this show, but I think I actually need time to come up with more to say than it's absolutely bloody brilliant.
To be honest, it's been a long time since a show has drawn me in so quickly and effectively that I've watched the entire thing in such a short time.
I admit, the first thing to hook my attention was how gorgeous the show looks. For something set entirely in fantasy, they've managed to make the world look real. I've been watching fantasy movies and shows my entire life and that's something I completely appreciate. It's a great thing when you can lose yourself in just the aesthetics of the world they're presenting to you.
But beyond how amazing it looks, the story is extremely intriguing. It seems to be always moving, it's not predictable. I mean there's some events I've been able to guess but a lot of it I haven't. Which is a nice change, after you've read and watched a lot of fantasy you tend to be able to figure out plots very quickly. Though it might help that this one has a lot more threads running through. All connected but all a story on their own.
Seriously though, is no character that's safe? Poor Eddard...
And that leads to the characters. The characters have continued to amaze me all the way through. From the honourable ones such as Eddard to the completely despicable such as, well, most of the Lannisters. Nice or not, the majority of the characters are complex and given real motivations, reactions and emotions, if altered due to the nature of the world they exist in.
On the subject of characters, I admit, there is something absolutely amazing about Daenerys. I know I'm no the only one who thinks so. But honestly I think her character has an brilliant story and develops so much over the season. Which works perfectly. She is essentially forced to grow up suddenly and roughly but she does so with strength. Yep, I admit it, love her.
I could probably ramble on more about the show, but that'll do for now....
On a completely different note, lj is being a shit again. I haven't really been getting any notifications, which is just really frustrating.
