My week in TV?

Yes, I think that's how I sort my week out now... Worrying? Probably...

But seriously, Sons of Anarchy is a brilliant show... )

The Walking Dead is just.....  )

Ohhhh, Elementary! )

Dexter.... )

As for Once Upon a Time... )

That's a few shows huh? What's sad is there's more I watch, but my brain is now off amusing itself with The Mighty Boosh since my friend told me I had to watch it.

And somehow, despite all this I get in my 4 hours of sleep a day, read some fic/book, spend time in chat and play GW2....

I don't have a life... I don't think I need one...?

The Walking Dead = me, now dead...

EEEEP!

Ok that was rude!! (spoilers) )

Did I mention I actually really like this show? I do. Just sayin'!

Aww, Rumple. You're a slow learner....

Think I like Once Upon a Time more every week. Of course I'm easily impressed so that may not be saying much...

Once Upon a Time - 1x02

Oh yes!! After getting my grubby little paws on it, I'm ready to watch.

You know, cause there might be spoilers... )

Never trust Rumple...

Sometimes, I love this time of year. If only cause some good shows come back on...

Very much enjoy this show and have been wondering what would happen since the curse was broken... Definitely don't trust Rumple. Poor Belle, she's got a complicated one but I admit, kinda loving Rumple/Belle, talk about slightly complicated.

Oi Charming! Shouldn't get offended that Snow, as Mary Margaret had a one night stand, you were married you dumbass. Still, those 2 are much better as Snow and Charming then they were as Mary and David. Makes for an interesting reunion and it's nice to see an actual emotional fallout from a lost child.

Henry wanting to save Regina was good. She was in some ways, still his mother. But she doesn't seem to learn.

Also, so glad to see Mulan, but did we have to have her in love with the Prince too? But I kind of hope we get an epic friendship between her and Aurora. Cause Mulan is a brilliant character. AND I admit, I didn't see them not being a flashback! Wasn't really expecting that. Sneaky sneaky. I like it.

All in all, fantastic return :D

I admit, I wasn't sure about the Debra loving Dexter thing that was going on towards the end of the last season, but thankfully that got forgotten in this episode.

Ok, so we knew Debra had to catch/figure out who Dexter was eventually. I actually didn't mind that it took her a while to process all of what she saw with Dexter in the church. I admit, I will be curious to see how the season goes now she's established Dexter's a serial killer.

Which of course makes you wonder what La Guerta is up too. And for that matter, what about Louis?

Might have more thoughts about this later, but still, glad it's back on.

Fringe!!

Seriously, I know there's new Doctor Who, but I'm sooooo much more excited about the prospect of new Fringe. I'm sad that we're only getting a short last season though.

Thoughts and such things... )

Season 5 of Supernatural is fun

(And I need an icon for Supernatural. Yes, pointless but still.)

So I'm still making my way through Supernatural, I'm now half way through season 5, and really enjoying it. The weekly stories are mostly really enjoyable and I like the season arcs they have. This introduction of angels into the mix has been interesting. Quite like the way things aren't really clear cut, bad vs good. Dean and Sam though, I was worried at one stage early on that they weren't going to develop much. So happy I was wrong about that, they've been developing, still inherently them but they've grown. Also, really glad that they have to face the consequences of their actions, with the whole apocalypse, but more importantly between them. They get angry, scared, worried etc, but it makes them more realistic so it's all good.

By the way, episode where they're stuck in TV shows (forgotten what is was called)... Priceless, I was laughing so damn much.

Game of Thrones and Fringe are back!!

1. Yes, I know Fringe has been back for 2 weeks, but that's a minor detail.

2. It's not that I'm ridiculously over excited by this or anything... But seriously *does happy dance* (I choose not to consider the sad and sorry state of my life that I'm am so ridiculously happy about the return of TV shows).

3. This weeks Once Upon a Time was great.

GoT, Fringe and OUaT ramble, there could be spoilers... )

Supernatural season 1 or....

...How I spent this week procrastinating. Yep, this is what I do when I'm considering uni work.

I find new (or not so new) and exciting things to watch or play. Is it bad that I'm replaying Final Fantasy X, again?
Mind you, in my defence this game is still brilliant, if slightly painful to play on newer TVs.

But mostly, I was watching Supernatural season 1....

Oh, and Once Upon a Time, but more Supernatural... )

Uni may take up time...

But it doesn't stop me watching TV....

Ok, so I've been a bit quiet lately. But hey, nothing new there. Apparently since my house mate has started working 6 hours away, leaving me with the house to myself for 12 days out of 14, I've been watching a lot more TV. Or more to the point catching up on all the shows I'd been meaning to watch. So I decided to make a list of the shows I've watched in the past month or so. Why? I feel like it....

Scary TV habits AHOY! )

Game of Thrones is brilliant... (and lj is crap)

So, to reinforce the idea that I have too much time on my hands...

I finished watching Game of Thrones. 5 episodes a day, only takes 2 days. Well, nights if you want to be technical. Not really the point.

Would love to be eloquent and meaningful about this show, but I think I actually need time to come up with more to say than it's absolutely bloody brilliant.

Game of Thrones ramblings and thoughts... )

On a completely different note, lj is being a shit again. I haven't really been getting any notifications, which is just really frustrating.

2 Episodes into Game of Thrones...

....and I think I'm beginning to understand the appeal.

I think I'll start with the fact this show looks absolutely amazing. But already I can see more than just the aesthetic appeal. While it's still early the plot is already intriguing me. I mean I've got some ideas where the story might go, but I like not really knowing.

The characters. Yeah, love the characters. Well, love to hate some of them, but then it's early and I may yet like them later. But I like how much depth the characters already have.

I think I'll go back to watching. Wonder how many I can watch before I have to sleep.... This show just kind of drags you in.

I'll ramble on more about the show after a few more episodes....

Question about Game of Thrones...

I'm hoping there might be someone out there who can give me an answer.

I haven't read the books or watched the show yet. I've been meaning to read the books for a few years now, but I don't buy books a lot, given what they generally cost here... Not the point. Haven't read yet. Would like to though. Can probably find someone to borrow off or I'll splurge a bit... Again, not the point.

As for the show, well, I've got it, but I haven't watched it yet for a simple reason. I'm not sure which to do first. So I'm trying to find people who've done both and see whether they'd suggest reading the books or watching the show first. Or telling me it doesn't matter is acceptable too. Because as much as I want to watch the show, I'm wondering if that'll in anyway negatively affect my impressions of the books.

Wow, that was a long way to ask a short question.

tl;dr...
Game of Thrones - Books or show first??

Fringe writers are mean.

Look, I'll be honest. As soon as Olivia started getting those flashes I suspected something like this was going to happen

But I'm normally wrong. I wasn't this time and it makes them so damn mean! Thought the episode was great, but seriously, that ending is just making me incredibly impatient.

Also, it seems like they're dropping hints that the world they were overlapping with was Peter's original. But then, given she apparently wasn't affected by what was happening in the town...

Damn them (and then bring on the next episode).

Ah, Fringe...

Yep, new episode of Fringe. Much love for this show.

Oh yeah, for the sake of what little sanity I have and my patience, all characters will be normal or alt, cause I'm not gonna try to figure out who they might really be. Plus typing alt!alt! or alt!alt!alt! is just messy :P

So my Fringe-ish thoughts... )

Shiny new Once Upon a Time and Fringe...

So, watched the new episode of Once Upon a Time (ok, day or two old now but eh, still new).
Ummm. Rightio...

Once Upon a Time thoughts... )

I'm really more than a few days behind on Fringe, but I watched it yesterday...

Fandom meme

Right, cause I've seen it around a few places (though I'm stealing from [livejournal.com profile] kilodalton) and it looks amusing I'm going to do this fandom meme. It might be amusing. And distract me from the ferret that is currently living in my pillow, damn Rikku (love her to bits, but she's insane). Right back to the point...

1. Which TV shows did you start watching in 2011? Still not sure whether I started watching Torchwood and Doctor Who at the end of last year or the start of this. So an answer I'm actually sure about... (Yep, a lot of them are older, but I only watched 'em this year) Black Books, Harry's Law, How I Met Your Mother, Hung, Once Upon a Time, Sherlock, Sons of Anarchy, Spartacus and The Walking Dead. Yikes, that was more than I realised....

2. Which TV shows did you let go of in 2011? Erm, only ones that finished... As tempted as I was a few times to let go of Doctor Who...

3. Which TV shows did you mean to get into but didn't in 2011? Game of Thrones... It's on my list, I swear I'll get to it soon!

4. Which TV shows do you intend on checking out in 2012? ^ Game of Thrones. I will watch it before January is over. Other than that, no idea.

5. Which TV show impressed you least in 2011? Why? Well, do you have to ask? Bloody Moffat. Doctor Who season 6. Overly convoluted, badly characterised and frustrating. Let's threaten the Doctor's life. Never mind the fact we can't kill him permanently, so we remove the dram there. Make Amy the mother of River, thus making her part in the show to be an incubator. And don't even get me started on River.... The whole thing was pointless and why the hell weren't all the plots from the last 2 seasons wrapped up. It's getting ridiculous.

6. Which TV show do you think you might let go of in 2012 unless things significantly improve? I'd say Doctor Who, but I'd like to keep up on canon, even if I'm pretty sure canon is now a non-existent concept to Moffat. Maybe it's just so I know when Moffat leaves...
Other than Who, I don't think there's anything. It takes a lot to get me to stop watching a show once I'm interested.

7. Which TV show impressed you the most in 2011? Hmmm, Fringe was absolutely brilliant, especially in season 3. I still love Dexter, found the latest season very interesting, the issue of faith versus his, let's say issues.

8. Which TV shows do you think you'll never let go of no matter how crappy they get? Why? Sigh, now that I'm so invested, probably Doctor Who. Also that probably relates to the absolutely amazing people I've met in the fandom :)

__________________________________________________________________

1. Your main fandom(s) of the year: Doctor Who/ Torchwood. I don't enter into fandoms easily, no matter how much I love a show. The last time was back when Buffy and Angel were first airing.
Oh and Discworld/Terry Pratchett.

2. Your favourite film this year: Erm, right. I don't know. I'm bad at picking favourite movies. Also doesn't help I don't remember when I watched 'em. Inception was good, I only saw that a week ago.

3. Your favourite book this year: I Shall Wear Midnight by Terry Pratchett. Though, I'm half way through Snuff and it might take over the top spot.

4. Your favourite TV show this year: Um. As much as I love Doctor Who season 6 did not take it anywhere near the top of the list. So favourites this year would be Fringe, Dexter, True Blood, Once Upon a Time and Spartacus.

6. Your favourite LJ community this year: Only one? But but! Screw it, I'm allowed a couple.
[livejournal.com profile] doctor_rose_fix because sometimes I just want to squee a bit. [livejournal.com profile] d_r_meta for some absolutely great discussions. And because I've had so much fun there [livejournal.com profile] bad_wolf_rising.

7. Your best new fandom discovery of the year: See above. Seriously, best thing I've discovered this year.

8. Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year: Season 6 of Doctor Who comes to mind (and don't get me started on some of the people I've run into since I entered the Who fandom). Oh and this may be slightly sad, but I was disappointed with the way Smallville ended (I know, I know. Sometimes I can't believe I watched it either).

9. Your TV/Movie boyfriends of the year: Chris Eccleston, David Tennant, John Simm (ignore the theme), Nathan Fillion and David Boreanaz.

10. Your TV/Movie girlfriends of the year: Billie Piper, Jewel Staite (old but always on the list) and Anna Torv.

11. Your biggest squee moment of the year: Getting to sit on Terry Pratchett's knee for photos... And getting a signed copy of Snuff sent out to me for 'Hogswatch'.

12. Your most missed old fandom: Does it count as old if I only watched it maybe a year ago? I want RTD era Doctor Who back as well.

Something other than Who

Terrifying isn't it? Ok, maybe not, but it could be a first for me. I feel like a random ramble about other shows. Specifically, Bones and Fringe.

The new season of Bones has started, 2 episodes in now. I have loved this show since it started. Though admittedly I first heard about it cause David Boreanaz was in it. Ahh, the side effect of long term Whedon watching.

Anywoo, the new season started, and at the end of last season Bones was pregnant, to Booth. Which was kind of a surprise. But as a completely hope Bones/Brennan shipper I was kind of both hopeful and terrified of what this would do to the new season. The first episode though, had me squee-ing a little bit. They were all adorable. It gave me hope that getting them together wouldn't ruin anything. As sometimes happens on shows like this, get the characters with the UST together and down the drain it goes.
And maybe I'm just a hopeless little shipper, but watching those 2 in the second episode, Bones attempting to 'walk in' Booth's shoes was hilarious. I still love them. If they keep going like this I think it'll work out ok. I've always loved Bones trying to understand the emotional side to, well, pretty much everything.

Sooooo, Fringe.....

This one is interesting. They like to throw twists at you. Some are obvious, some not so much (well, not to me anyway). I love Peter/Olivia. So with what's been happening in the first 6 episodes of the new season, I feel rather sorry for Peter. Those two have absolutely no luck. And Walter, I adore Walter. I want him to be my uncle or something (though my Dad has some similarities to Walter so maybe I should just accept that). But poor guy, something worrying when he wants to lobotomise himself.
I admit to being a little bit worried when the season first started, but I find it's starting to pick up in the past 3 episodes. And the bit at the end of episode 6 both surprised me and was really obvious, but I can't help wondering if there's more to it than what they've given us so far. I mean they've been dropping hints that something isn't right, but given the re-write of the timeline (for lack of a better term) those odd variations could be explained away, but the changes are rather drastic really.
Oh well, be interesting to see what happens next....
