TEC/TDD are Moffat's best I think, then it all went down hill. Some aren't terrible, but none of them stand out as favourites, the episodes I want to rewatch again and again. Moffat seems to like trolling his fans a bit, or so it seems to me. I mean as you say be nicer. Fans are what keeps the show going.
I understand what you mean. Donna's ending is terrible, Marthha's was pretty damn good. Well aside from her being awesome, she chose to leave and live her life. The Ponds is, in some ways, similar to Rose's exit Doomsday. There's some good points, like they're together and appear to live decently but without there family. Rose is separated from the person she loves and wanted to stay with, but she does have her family.
Basically, I'm agreeing (after that ramble) sad but not so much tragic. And I don't get the reaction some people are having like it's 'THE SADDEST THING EVER!'
